At Windang Public School academic excellence is our focus, community is our culture and every student is known, valued, and cared for. Windang Public School is a world class school that provides outstanding education where students achieve their personal best through learning experiences that enable each student to develop strong communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills.
It is a school of excellence, where quality teaching and learning occurs in a safe and caring environment. Our staff are highly skilled and caring professionals dedicated to instilling a love of learning in all students, laying the foundation for a full, informed and rewarding life.
At Windang Public School we pride ourselves on creating a positive and respectful environment for students, staff, parents and carers. We believe the best education happens when parents and schools work together. We are a welcoming, friendly school community and have strong relationships with parents and carers. Our Parents and Citizen’s Association (P&C) is actively involved and warmly welcomed in the school.
We provide an extensive variety of enrichment curricula to enhance the learning of our students. These include: robotics, coding and living classrooms where each class has a garden bed for students to engage in authentic mathematics, writing and science learning. Kindergarten to Year 2 students enjoy weekly ChiME music lessons; providing students with the opportunity to explore singing, playing, moving, listening and creating. ChiME recognises the importance of learning to love music through play. Year 3 to Year 6 students attend weekly guitar lessons and both the ChiME and Guitar lessons are taught by music teachers from the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music. All students are encouraged to join the school choir, band and participate in the annual South Coast Dance Festival and Southern Stars group.
We love feeding the brains of our students at Windang PS therefore this year we’ve introduced 30min Italian lessons for all students. Learning another language improves memory, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, enhances concentration, ability to multitask, and improves listening! It also allows us to connect to other cultures and it’s fun. Mrs Maranesi and Mrs Gardiner are our wonderful Italian teachers.
All students participate in the NSW Premier’s Reading, Spelling, Public Speaking and Sporting challenges along with the Lake Learning Community Public Speaking competition. Connecting students with the outdoors is high on our agenda therefore we have built an amazing play area for our students to enjoy before school, recess and at lunch. Along with providing all students the opportunity to attend an outdoor excursion every term with camp being offered to the senior students.
At Windang Public School we pride ourselves on our excellent programs that promote self-belief, resilience, citizenship, respect and responsibility. Our students have a reputation for outstanding behaviour. Successful life skills are developed through our comprehensive student wellbeing program.
The Student Leadership Program and other initiatives foster leadership and decision making in students of all ages. We develop confident, articulate students with skills to collaborate with others, solve real world problems, think creatively, connect through technology and develop their ethical values, social responsibility and wellbeing to be engaged citizens.
We are proud of our achievements, our students, our community and our staff. For further information please visit our school website at: https://windang-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/
