Attendance

At Windang Public School, we place a strong emphasis on regular attendance as a key factor in student success and wellbeing. Our approach focuses on early intervention, clear communication, and building positive partnerships with families.

Attendance is monitored closely by our Case Management Team, with patterns of absence identified through data tracking to ensure timely and targeted support. We celebrate and promote strong attendance through class awards, individual recognition, and whole-school initiatives that encourage students to value being at school every day.

When attendance concerns arise, staff work collaboratively with families, the Home School Liaison Officer, and external agencies to address barriers and develop personalised support plans.

Behaviour

At Windang Public School, our approach to behaviour is guided by the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework and our SURF Values – Safe Always, United in Learning, Respectful and Co-operative, Fair in Work and Play.

We believe that clear expectations, consistent routines, and positive relationships create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Desired behaviours are explicitly taught, modelled, and reinforced through recognition systems such as awards, class rewards, and whole-school celebrations.

When challenges arise, restorative practices, including the WIN conversation, are used to help students reflect, repair relationships, and make positive choices moving forward. Staff work collaboratively to ensure consistent expectations across all settings, supported by data-driven decision-making and proactive strategies.

Through this approach, students develop responsibility, self-regulation, and respect for themselves and others. At Windang Public School, we are committed to building a culture where every student can learn, feel safe, and thrive.
